Alia is the Policy and Programs Leader, International Affairs Branch, Canadian Food Inspection Agency. Alia Blais holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Ottawa. She started working at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) in 2009 and has been working in the area of food imports since 2011. In 2016, she became one of the many dedicated CFIA employees working on the drafting and implementation of the Safe Food for Canadians Regulation (SFCR). Alia was responsible for drafting and updating industry guidance documents on the CFIA external website for importers. She specializes in the import requirements of the SFCR and import admissibility requirements for food.
