Wednesday saw the completion of the Americas Food and Beverage Show and Conference and a successful day for exporTT! There was no shortage in floor traffic, with distributors from Canada, Puerto Rico, Suriname and many others showing interest in Trinidad & Tobago products. Local exporter Dockside Seafood Company offered tasty samples of their breaded tilapia fillets, breaded fish nuggets and fish burgers.Vincent was able to meet with the Port of Miami, US Customs and the FDA, key players integral to export to Miami and, the Miami-Dade County Economic Development & International Trade Office which specializes in planning and coordinating inward missions to Florida at no cost. The company indicated that they facilitated approximately 44 inbound missions last year!
He also made time for two very important seminars:
- Market Trends in Latin America and the Caribbean – the session focused on what are the trends that govern the fastest growing markets and the fastest growing products in these regions as well as which food products offer the greatest potential in these markets
- Compliance Issues in the Food Industry- this session was rich in information and included insights on the Food and Drug Administration’s Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP), Nutrition Facts Labelling and trade wars
